On Saturday, May 11th, Voices of Pride will be performing an assortment of pieces, all composed by women. Women composers have been consistently under-represented in choral programming, including ours, and we look forward to centering these creators in our concert to cultivate change. Using singing to develop social bonds that help people to feel connected in a sometimes lonely world. To be there for each other — both collectively and individually — when the chips are down, and to be there for the communities in which the chorus operates, too. Their musical arrangements are unique to BrightonGMC and form a vast repertoire that covers pop, musical, classic and classical scores.
Registration is now open for Individual Delegates! Early registration for choruses and ensembles continues through May 31st, with late chorus registration closing July 1. Whether a song reminds you of a specific scene in a film, or triggers a certain cinematic memory, the power of the soundtracks is what we want to celebrate! I am excited to be able to share these beautiful choral arrangements with our audience! Under the leadership of Artistic Director Derek Carkner, it has elevated its performance standard and has built bridges of understanding, acceptance and love, as well as created renewed awareness and appreciation of music across all of Banderas Bay.
The new Executive Director will take the reins in the fall of during the start of our 39th season. Executive Director Jeff Heine is leaving after 10 years leading this highly respected chorus. Interim leadership has been selected for the start of the 39th season.
The Renaissance City Winds was created with a similar inspiration.
